Léo Matos is leaving the Vasco DA Gama sports department. The former player accepted the offer from PAOK Greece to become the club's new sports director. Léo Matos is an idol of PAOK, a club he played for five years. During that time, he was a two-time Greek champion and a three-time Greek Cup winner. He created a close relationship with Ivan Savvidi, the president of the Greek club, who formalized the invitation for his return, now as a director. The executive used social media to officially bid farewell to Vasco: It's time to end a very special cycle of my life at Vasco da Gama. I've lived intensely for six years, experiencing the daily life of this giant club. First, as an athlete, I lived through experiences that made me understand even more the greatness of the institution and the incomparable passion of its fans. Along this journey, I built friendships that I will take with me for the rest of my life. After all, it's in the most challenging moments that true bonds and genuine relationships are formed. I thank all the professionals of the club for their daily interaction, dedication, commitment, and passion in working for Vasco. I also make some special thanks to the people who played a fundamental role in my transition from athlete to administrative football area. To Paulo Bracks, I express my deepest gratitude for believing in my potential beyond the four lines. In December 2022, I received the invitation to join the Vasco football department, an opportunity that opened a new professional horizon, allowing me to learn, develop, and participate closely in the management processes of a great club. To Felipe and Pedrinho, I thank you for the confidence, support, and backing since the arrival of the new management in June 2024. After the departure of 777 Partners, you believed in my work and kept me in the club. I'm sure that a significant part of my career evolution and the opportunities I live today also pass through the confidence you placed in me. It was a privilege to work alongside you and follow closely a management conducted with seriousness, responsibility, professionalism, and, above all, love for Vasco da Gama. I leave with a grateful heart, carrying learnings, friendships, and memories that I will take with me forever. Vasco will be part of my history for the rest of my life. Thank you very much.
