Vasco DA Gama has successfully overturned the Fifa ban on player transfers and is now allowed to sign new players. The ban was imposed last week due to a debt with Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys related to the signing of midfielder Juan Sforza. The lifting of the ban is due to the fact that the club is currently undergoing a judicial recovery process. The Fifa decision was made in early June, ordering the Brazilian club to pay approximately $2.3 million to the Argentine team, plus an additional $345,000 in fines. In total, the debt would be around $15 million. If the payment was not made, Vasco would be prevented from registering new players. Looking back, Vasco had already faced similar problems due to a debt with French club Nantes. The punishment was also suspended due to the legal protections provided by the judicial recovery process. According to current legislation, clubs in judicial recovery cannot pay off debts outside of the approved judicial plan. This means that transfer values, such as those of Sforza, can only be paid according to the established judicial schedule. There is an exception in this context: the payment of bonuses to current squad players, who are considered 'collaborating creditors'. These obligations can and should be paid, as they aim to maintain the club's sporting operations. Vasco issued an official statement, announcing that the Fifa-imposed ban had been suspended. The football governing body reportedly recognized that, due to the ongoing judicial recovery, the penalty could not be maintained. Argentine club Newell’s had filed a motion requesting the restriction, which has now been invalidated. Fifa considered the legal condition of Vasco da Gama SAF to be valid, making it impossible to maintain the so-called 'registration ban'. The organization's understanding is in line with its own Disciplinary Code, which provides exceptions in cases like Vasco's. As a result, the club is once again able to register players in both national and international competitions. But what does this mean for the team's future? So, Vasco DA Gama can now focus on signing new players and competing in the league without any restrictions. The club's fans are surely relieved and excited about the news. And the team's management is already working on new transfers and strategies to improve the team's performance. The Vasco DA Gama's next match is scheduled for soon, and the team is ready to take on the challenge. The players are training hard, and the coach is preparing the team's tactics. The Vasco DA Gama is ready to make a comeback and show its strength in the league.
