Vasco DA Gama overcame the transfer ban imposed by FIFA and is free to sign new players. The Brazilian club was prohibited from signing new players due to a debt with Newell’s Old Boys, from Argentina, for the hiring of midfielder Juan Sforza. The release was granted because the club is in judicial recovery. Vasco da Gama reported that FIFA's decision considers the legal condition of Vasco da Gama SAF, currently in judicial recovery in Brazil. With this, Vasco is fully authorized to register new athletes nationally and internationally. The club reaffirms its commitment to transparency and responsible management of its restructuring, respecting both Brazilian legislation and international football regulations. Vasco received a FIFA order in early June to pay $2.3 million and was indicted to pay a fine of $345,000 to avoid a transfer ban. The club could not pay creditors due to judicial recovery and has as its only exception the payment of signing bonuses and prizes to current players, treated in the process as 'collaborating creditors'. Moving on to the next game, Vasco is focused on getting back on the winning path to 'get back on track' for the rest of the season. Fighting against the relegation zone in the Brasileirão, Fernando Diniz's team will face Internacional on Sunday, for the 16th round of the championship. The match will take place at Beira-Rio and will start at 18h30. So, Vasco needs a win to get closer to the leaders. The Brazilian club has a qualified squad and can surprise opponents. With the transfer ban lifted, Vasco can seek reinforcements for the rest of the season and improve its position in the table. But the club must be careful and make smart signings to avoid further problems.
