Vasco DA Gama faces a new transfer ban due to debt with an Argentine club. The Cruzmaltino is confident that it will be able to reverse the decision. Fifa imposed a transfer ban on the club, temporarily blocking the signing of new players. This sanction arose due to a claim by Newell’s Old Boys, from Argentina, related to the negotiation of midfielder Juan Sforza. The Argentine club reported in April 2025 that it had opened an action with Fifa requesting payment of a debt of 2.6 million dollars. In an official statement released on Monday, the Rio de Janeiro club stated that it is already taking the necessary legal measures to try to reverse this penalty. And Vasco also mentioned recent decisions by the Fifa Disciplinary Committee that recognized the importance of national legislation in similar cases. The Vasco legal team hopes to succeed again, just like in previous disputes, such as the one with Nantes, from France. Vasco reaffirmed its commitment to responsible and transparent management during the financial restructuring process. So the club is focused on ensuring that this penalty does not hinder plans for the season. The debt is included in the judicial recovery process approved by the Brazilian Justice, which legally suspends payment for the time being. But the club is confident that it will be able to reverse Fifa's decision.
